Special Rescue Police Winspector

Special Rescue Police Winspector is a Japanese tokusatsu series from the Metal Hero franchise and the first installment of the Rescue Police trilogy. It follows a specialized team called Winspector that handles crimes and emergencies beyond the capacity of ordinary police. The squad is composed of one human member, who wears armor, and two robot partners.

The story is set in a near-future Japan in 1999, where rising criminal threats demand new protective measures. The Winspector team—comprising the robot brothers Bikel and Walter, along with human leader Ryoma Kagawa in his Fire Tector armor—confronts super-powered dangers, from mob violence to disastrous scientific mishaps.

Ryoma Kagawa, also known as Fire, is the 23-year-old team leader and its sole human. A police superintendent and orphan, he is a martial artist fluent in five languages. He drives a car called Winsquad and transforms by saying "Suit up!" His red Crush Tector armor boosts his strength and shields him from poison gas, gunfire, and lack of oxygen, but can only be worn for five minutes due to physical strain. His main weapon is an energy sword, and he has access to other specialized tools. He has a sister and later joins the Solbrain team as Knight Fire.

Bikel is one of the two robot twins. He travels by motorcycle or uses a wheel built into his chest for land-surfing. His weapons are twin lances that can combine into a staff, also serving as his motorcycle handles or coin bombs. He wears yellow armor, tells jokes, and sometimes annoys Walter with his silliness. He speaks in a Nagoya dialect.

Walter is Bikel's twin and the other robot. He has wings for flight and needs no vehicle. His armor is turquoise. He loves children and generally enjoys life.

Shunsuke Masaki is Winspector's commander and founder. He usually stays at headquarters but goes to the field when a member is in trouble. After the series, he creates another rescue team, Solbrain, and appears in the final episodes of Exceedraft.

Junko Fujino is an information specialist and expert with handguns.

Hisako Koyama works undercover, often in a coffee shop. Her father, Masanobu Koyama, was a colleague of Masaki killed in action six years earlier.

Shin'ichi Nonoyama is the team's mechanic, developing rescue tools and maintaining Bikel and Walter. He enjoys chess.
