Lore & Background

The series is set in 2107, where small wars occur globally. A secret organization based at the Dragon's Hive gathers four pilots—Aoi Hidaka, Kurara Tachibana, Sakuya Kamon, and Johnny Bernet—to pilot the combining robot Dancouga Nova, which consists of the Nova Eagle, Nova Rhino, Nova Liger, and Nova Elephant. Each pilot controls one unit, with Aoi serving as chief pilot of the Nova Eagle and the combined robot. The team is dispatched on missions from the Dragon's Hive base.

Supporting characters include Commander Tanaka, psychiatrist Roo Riruri, chief engineer Sammy, and the mysterious overall commander Mister F.S. (also called Fog Sweeper). The mecha Dancouga Nova can transform into a second mode called Dancouga Nova God Beast Mode when its Aggressive System is activated, changing the unit's color to gold and requiring the whole team to pilot it. Additional mecha include the D-Phoenix transport airship, the D-Poseidon submarine, the Dragon's Hive battleship, and the R-Daigun, a fifth unit piloted by Ada Rossa. The final combination of Dancouga Nova and R-Daigun forms Dancouga Max God.
