The plot of Gasaraki begins in ancient Japan, where the Gowa family created a demonic armor to defeat their enemies. Hundreds of years later, in the 2010s, this armor is exploited by the Gowa family in the development of Tactical Armor for military use and the usurpation of Japan. The initial plot is driven by news reports about a fictional war between the US and the fictional Middle Eastern country of Belgistan. When US forces attempt to seize the capital, they are wiped out by rival TAs, and the Gowa family seizes the opportunity to demonstrate their weapon system. Civilian pilot Yushiro Gowa and his military squad are deployed to Belgistan, where he meets rival TA pilot Miharu, with whom he shares a deep spiritual bond.
