Space Sheriff Shaider

Space Sheriff Shaider (宇宙刑事シャイダー, Uchū Keiji Shaidā) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series that ran from March 2, 1984, to March 8, 1985. It is the third and final installment in the "Space Sheriff Series" of the Metal Hero Series franchise, following Space Sheriff Gavan and Space Sheriff Sharivan. Toei distributes the series under the title Space Captain Sheider, and its action footage was later used in Season 2 of VR Troopers.

The story follows Dai Sawamura, a college archaeology student who deciphers the Nazca Lines in Peru. Impressed, the Galaxy Federal Police recruit and train him as Earth's third Space Sheriff. He is given the code name Shaider in honor of an ancient warrior who defeated Emperor Kubilai and destroyed the Fuuma Empire 12,000 years earlier. When Fuuma returns, Dai is deputized and sent back to Earth to fight the revived empire.

Dai's headquarters is the Vavilos, a spacecraft that orbits Earth. In combat, it can fire the Vavilos Beam from its wings. When Shaider enters the Fushigi Dimension and faces a giant Fuuma gunship, he summons Vavilos to transform into either the Big Magnum cannon or the Vavilos Robot. The robot emits a Vavilos Fire laser from its chest, fires Vavilos Lasers from its hands, catches and throws back enemy missiles, and launches Vavilos Missiles.

Dai Sawamura, a former archaeologist, continues his astronomer father's research on Nazca images, tracking their meaning from Peru to Easter Island. There, he discovers an altar that knocks him unconscious, and he awakens on Planet Bird. He becomes Shaider after solving a missing item puzzle. Learning of the ancient warrior Shaider and his own presumed lineage, Dai realizes his destiny is to finish his ancestor's work by destroying Fuuma. When Fuuma conquers most of the universe, Dai finds that the altar is an entrance to where Kubilai's headless body is sealed, along with the emperor's weak point. Trapped by Poe with limited oxygen, Dai escapes, fights through Fushigi Castle, rescues Annie, and defeats Kubilai. After his mission, Dai takes Annie on a world tour. He transforms by shouting "Shouketsu," which bathes him in Plasma Blue Energy from Vavilos, forming his blue Combat Suit armor in milliseconds. As Shaider, he wields the Laser Blade sword for his signature Shaider Blue Flash move, and the Video Beam Gun, which he can combine with the Shaider Scope to track inv
