The series is set in Akebono City, a peaceful community with a Power Spot releasing magical power. The demon army Jamanga gathers Minus Energy from frightened people to revive their leader. The secret organization SHOT, concealing its existence as ordinary members of the Akebono Police Station, protects the community. Kenji Narukami, a practitioner of the Narukami Dragon God Style, arrives to fight demons and is transformed into Ryukendo, the title protagonist, after being chosen by GekiRyuKen. He works at SHOT alongside other Magic Bullet Warriors: Jushiro Fudo, who becomes Ryuguno, and Koichi Shiranami, who becomes Ryujino. Each warrior uses keys to attack or summon Beast Kings, animal spirits of the Earth. Kenji and Jushiro later achieve stronger forms: God Ryukendo and Magna Ryuguno, with their Beast Kings upgraded to Super Beast Kings.
